Protect Affiliate Commissions With
Easy Link Cloaking
Many affiliate marketers know that
it is too easy for others to change
their ClickBank links. It's as easy
as replacing the original affiliate's
ClickBank nickname with your own.
And this is a serious difficulty in
the ClickBank affiliate marketing model.
But fortunately there is a simple solution
which you can use to protect your affiliate
commissions.
But first, a short aside:
I've seen some marketers use a free
redirection service like TinyURL.com
or Shurl.org and a handful of others,
but to my way of thinking they all look
tacky. In the marketing context, that
is. Other uses may be fine, but not
when you're promoting a product or a
service and then you send a prospect
to a link like that.
I wonder if anybody has done testing
to see what damage that does to their
conversion rates. Actually I cant imagine
any serious marketer even wanting to
try that.
EASY PROTECTION FOR YOUR AFFILIATE
LINK:
While nothing is perfect, the following
system is good. And in fact, ClickBank
themselves recommend it, although not
all affiliates have noticed this, I
am sure.
ClickBank recommends that affiliates
use a particular format.

If the code does not display well
here, you can see it at http://eprofitnews.org/link-cloaking.html
STEP 1. Open a new blank text file.
I use Notepad because it adds none
of the extra characters that Microsoft
Word, for example, adds. Those extra
characters mess things up in HTML. Notepad
is available free at notepad.org but
you can use any plain text editor you
like. I also use Notepad++ for its expanded
functionality. It's also free and you
can get it from notepad-plus.sourceforge.net.
STEP 2. Paste the above ClickBank HTML
code into your text file, replace PUBLISHER
with the vendor's ClickBank nickname
and replace ITEM with your ClickBank
nickname.
Then save the file as keyword.html
Any keyword will do. Okay, any word
will do. But since you're an affiliate
marketer let's choose something relevant
here... a keyword or the product name,
maybe.
STEP 3. Upload keyword.html to your
server. And test it by visiting yourdomain.com/keyword.html
and you should be immediately redirected
to the affiliate program you are promoting.
Click on the Buy link and your affiliate
nickname should be displayed at the
bottom of the following page.
