Niche Inspector User Review
Im one of the lucky ones. I've been allowed
to test drive Myleena Phans new NicheInspector
software before its public release early in April
2007. My review here takes the form of a report
on the test drive.
But firstly, let me tell you about...
The NicheInspector video
(The video is available from a link inside her
free report, which is called "A
Simple, Step-By-Step Formula to Uncover Red-Hot
Niches".)
The 4 minute video uses the very popular keyword
cruises as the example. Heres
what happens
NicheInspector searches the internet and finds
the top 100 (or 50 or 500 or any number you choose)
related keyword phrases including single cruises
and greek island cruise.
And this is what it reports for each of the keywords
and keyphrases that it finds:
* The number of searches last month
* Number of Google results for this keyword
* Number of MSN results for this keyword
* Number of Yahoo results for this keyword
* Number of AdWords ads for this keyword
* Cost Per Click for broad match ads in Google
* CPC for exact match ads in Google
* CPC for phrase match ads in Google
Filters are provided so you can find the most profitable
keywords for, perhaps, a new site on cruises. Or
an ad campaign.
Firstly, we will select only keywords with
a low number of competitors. Niche Inspector
provides a set of filters which will allow you to
include or exclude results above or below whatever
numbers you choose. In this example, the video demo
filtered out all results except...
Google: only show keywords with results under
900,000
MSN: under 250,000
Yahoo: under 40,000
We can easily delete or hide the unwanted results.
Next the video demonstrator used
the filters again, so we were only seeing
keywords with lots of AdWords ads... because
lots of ads indicate a profitable market.
After a minute or 2, we have a list of the top
100 results for the keyword he fed in. When I duplicated
the results in my own testing, it only took 1-2
minutes.
Then we use the filtering options
built into NicheInspector to narrow that down
to, in this case, the top 3 results.
In the case of cruises, the top 3 key phrases are:
european cruise
bermuda cruise
last minute cruise deal
And heres why they are the top results:
* High number of monthly
searches
* Few competitors
* A lot of advertisers, showing that its
a profitable market
* High AdWords bids, which would translate into
good earnings on an AdSense site.
So thats a quick summary of the video, but
its far more impressive when you see it on
your screen so I recommend you download the report
and view the video (the video link is on page 41
of the report).
Now, secondly, let me tell you about my experience...
Test driving NicheInspector
I used the single keyword stop
for this exercise.
Quickly NicheInspector had listed 100 results for
me.
I then used the filters to cut the list down. Firstly
I set it to only select keywords with 5+ Google
AdWords ads which also had 1000+ searches per month.
Why 5+ PPC ads? Multiple ads indicate profitability;
otherwise advertisers wouldnt be paying for ads.
That reduced my list to 25. Still too big.
Then I set the filters to delist any keyphrases
with minimum AdWords bids below $2.00 for both phrase
match AND exact match. This will yield the most
profitable keywords if I was going to build a new
AdSense site, for example. (Alternatively, you can
set maximums for different types of searches).
That cut the list to 18 results. Keep cutting!
Next I raised the bid price to $3.00 minimum and
ran the filters again. Several more keywords become
unticked in the process, so once again I tell NicheInspector
to hide the unticked results. Were now down
to 10.
I continued to push the bid maximum up till it
reached $9 and finally I had 6 results left.
That's 6 profitable keywords.
To get just the top 3, I could continue to raise
the bid price till I got down to 3, but there is
another faster way to do this. Just look at the
actual bid prices in the columns on
the right. I did that and the top 3 results were...
stop pop ups
$17.31-$22.43 exact match
$12.85-$16.40 phrase match
stop foreclosure
$13.29-$16.61 exact match
$11.57-$14.47 phrase match
stop home foreclosure
$11.42-$14.28 exact match
$11.53-$14.41 phrase match
These 3 terms have 9+ Google AdWords ads and a
substantial search volume.
How hard was that? Not very.
SUMMARY:
NicheInspector makes the process of niche keyword
research both easy and fast. In fact, it took me
longer to write this article than it took NicheInspector
to do the work.
Finally, let me tell you about...
NicheInspectors brainstorming function
Brainstorming is what we do when were trying
to come up with options and ideas we havent necessarily
thought about before.
The niche brainstorming capability will be especially
helpful when you dont have a niche in mind... when
all you want is to find a profitable topic to build
a site around... when any topic will do, so long
as it's got profit potential.
After a few minutes of web-searching, NicheInspector
has my list of 100. I could do the filtering and
take you through that process again, but since we
did that already I will report on the results for
you in this fashion:
- There are some items Ive never heard of.
So I could never have come up with these keyphrases.
This look like a real value-add situation for
NicheInspector owners.
- Highest keyword bid price: $36.09 (wow)
- Most of the 100 listed keywords/phrases have
at least 8 Google ads (indicating profitability)
- Number of searches per month: Ranging all the
way up to 132,314
Exactly how the brainstorming thingy works, I have
no idea. But dont you just love automation?
Incidentally, the next time I ran the brainstorm
function, a new and different list was produced.
And to me, that was good news.
OVERALL SUMMARY:
NicheInspector is a power tool that many savvy
internet marketers will embrace.
Even if you decide not to buy NicheInspector, Myleena
has provided a detailed, step-by-step manual about
how to do niche market research.
As she says, she held nothing back.
Question: Does Niche Inspector need a Google
API?
I asked Myleena and she said no. So you dont need
to worry about getting your own API, nor do you
have to worry about multiple users all hitting Google
at the same time using her API.
Question: Does NicheInspector have a courtesy
pause feature so your automated software queries
dont trigger an alarm at Google?
Niche Inspector has a courtesy feature like this,
but at the moment it's not configurable by the user.
Myleena plans to add the option for users to manually
configure the delay
between requests. (I've already had several updates.)
